I always like to think up things that I can do with my kids to hopefully create memorable moments for them. It could be something as simple as an adventurous walk or hike, acting goofy at your expense, running a race with your son, or clothes shopping with your daughter. However, there are times that I have days scripted out just to get things done!
Cairo and I were out and about on Saturday doing manly things… getting tires for the car and other nonsense. On our way to a restaurant that I had a Groupon for, Cairo saw a sign for Dallas Lamborghini. He said that he wanted to go there after we ate. I just laughed it off and said no. I couldn’t really imagine going there thinking that we didn’t really have any business going in there. He kept on bringing it up so I decided to give in. What’s the worse that could happen?
We went there and they were super nice as I explained that we couldn’t afford the cigarette lighter and just wanted to look around. They even answered some of our stupid questions. We had a lot of fun just lookin’.
When we got back home, Cairo said how much he enjoyed hanging out. Would he have said that if we didn’t get to check out the cars? I don’t know, but knowing that he had fun made the decision to do his impromptu fun all the better.
All this to say… don’t knee jerk a “No” when they ask to do something that you wouldn’t normally do. It was fun and it meant something to him – which means something to me!
