Heart Surgery Recovery

Thanks to everyone for all of your prayers, calls, emails, texts, tweets, FaceBook wall posts, RaceNation messages, edible arrangement fruit basket from FT and dinner from sister-in-law Yulanda.

The procedure was a success.  They used adrenaline to stimulate my heart and found 2 electrical pathways that were bad.  They zapped those pathways using heat.  The doctors are very confident that these pathways were the primary reason for the episodes with my heart racing up an additional 80 beats per minute.  Time will tell.  I’ll definitely have a more comfort level after 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and of course a year.  It is possible that there could be other pathways, but he thinks that these are the primary ones.

Since the procedure took longer than normal they had me stay over night Monday night for observation.  I was able to able to observe University of Texas beat Ohio State University.  Now, that was an exciting game!

I’m feeling much better this morning and am actually going to be catching up with work today at home.  It feels good to actually sit in a chair instead of lying in bed for hours.

Yes, I’m still planning on having the bone spurs removed off of my feet tomorrow morning.  I’m really not looking forward to the recovery time period of that procedure.

Great news Mark! Sounds like you are a glutton for punishment with the bone spur procedure on the heels of the heart surgery! Rest well.
