Happy Birthday Cairo!

My little man, Cairo is turning 12 years old today! He's growing up with such an awesome heart for God. I just love how affectionate he is. He daily loves to give hugs!

For those that don't know the story behind Cairo's name, here ya go... I was working at Microsoft in Product Support with Windows NT. Microsoft always gave code names to their new product or product updgrades. The next release of Windows NT was code named "Cairo". Of course, I'm always talking about work when I get home. Well, Ursula was hearing me say Cairo over and over. So, she's like, "Cairo, Cairo Lindsley, I like that!" The rest is history. I cannot think of him with any other name.

Yesterday, he completed the Soccer Referee Clinic. So now we have 3 referees in the family.

Below are some of the my favorite pictures of Cairo...

Happy Birthday Briana!

My baby girl is 14 today! I'm so proud of how she's turning into such a wonderful young lady! I thank God for bringing her into my life. She always puts a smile on my face. I love how competitive she is in all that she does. She's always done so well in school, sports, and pleasing God. I know that God has great plans for her!

Here are some of my favorite pictures of her in no particular order. There are hundreds more, but I've got to hold a little back for next year's birthday.

Thanks to all that called this morning! That really made her day!

Date Night - Cloverfield

Ursula and I haven't had a true date night for awhile, so we went and saw Cloverfield. I really wanted to see this movie because it was created by the same people that made the Lost TV series. Ursula was not really looking forward to it. It's not her type of movie, but she's so awesome that she was seeing it, because I wanted to see it. She really wasn't crazy about it when she saw the above sign posted at the box office and at the doors of the movie theater.

I enjoyed the movie, but it wasn't at the top of my list. It was a combination of The Blair Witch Project and Bourne Ultimatum movies. First person camera work and quick choppy movements. It was neat to see the movie from this perspective, but it should was hard at times to hang in there. It was definitely an experience!

Married? When's the last time that you had a date night? Too long ago? Make it a priority! Your marriage will be strengthened by it!

I love funny commercials

I really love commercials that are made to make you laugh. I always look forward to the Sonic commercials as they're very creative. Add a monkey to a commercial and you're sure to have a hit! You've got to check out this series of commercials...

Of course, I really like the chaperone version!

  • I'm doing great on my New Years Resolutions! Are You?
  • I'm still without any facial hair!
  • Joseph has been gone for a month now. I miss that cat!

I'm usually not the type to set resolutions, however, this year God has set it on my heart to change for the better. He's been setting that on my heart for quite awhile, but I'm a bit stubborn when it comes to changing my habits. I was going to keep these in my head, but if I've got them in print, it'll push me to succeed in them.

Here's my list of resolutions:

1 - Get closer to God! Sometimes I get down right lazy! Well, truth be know, I quite often get lazy! I want to please God through my actions, period!

2 - Become the best husband possible! I want to learn even more about what pleases Ursula and do it. I look forward to the smile on her face.

3 - Become the best father possible! Nothing pleases me more than to grow closer to my children. This will become even more challenging as they're entering their teen years.

4 - Get in shape! I want to lose my stomache and some pounds. I've already been working on this one since about November/December. My goal is for my stomache to be flat or flatter. I've been playing racquetball again. I love that sport! It's so much fun and it works me harder than anything.

5 - Run! I'm not crazy about running, but it's the best way to work on my stamina and hopefully shed a few pounds. Yes, Denise has been my inspiration with this one. My goal is to run in a 5K in September/October.

6 - Have a great year at work! I want to please my customers, my management and God through my work. I want to exceed all expectations!

I cannot do numbers 2 -6 without number 1 - God!

Go Spurs!

Howdy from San Antonio!

I'm starting off the new year on the road. I'm hanging out in the land of the Spurs. I was reminded that today when I mistakenly made mention of the Dallas Mavericks during my project Kick-Off meeting. For the rest of my presentation to the 300+ church staff members, I randomly interjected, "Go Spurs!" which was well received. Truth be known, the only sports teams that I root for are my kids' soccer teams. Life does go on if the Dallas Cowboys or the Dallas Mavericks lose. However, life is a bit paused if Briana or Cairo have a challenging time out on the pitch. Usually these losses are opportunities to learn and grow.

Christmas Story - Beatles Style

One of my favorite churches that I've never been to is Granger Community Church in Granger, IN. They are definitely captivating people for Christ!

Our family tradition on Christmas Day is to read the Christmas Story from the Bible and to discuss it. Without saying, one of the most well known stories IS the Christmas Story. I think churches probably find it a challenge to tell this story that's been passed onto generations upon generations in a captivating way. Granger did an awesome job telling this story in a such an engaging format. If for some reason, you couldn't get to church, WATCH their Christmas Eve Service. For the rest of us that went to church or those that chose not to go to to church, WATCH their Christmas Eve Service. It's time well spent. You will be blessed!

Tim Stevens shared on his blog some interesting information about the Christmas Eve service. One huge item of interest is that this church in a city of 28,000 (2000 Census) reached 10,500 people! Praise God!
